STUDENT MINISTRY ASSOCIATE

POSITION SUMMARY

The mission of Mountain Park Church is to invite the distracted and the disinterested to realize their role in God’s story. The Student Ministry Associate fulfills this mission with the students of our community by facilitating student discipleship. This includes creating opportunities for students to know love and follow Jesus, raising up teams and leaders who move students towards Christ, Encouraging and equipping parents to be spiritual leaders, and executing logistical ministry tasks.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Create Opportunities for Students to Know, Love and Follow Jesus

  • Use gifting to invest in the holistic growth of students and equip them to follow Jesus in every area in their life
  • Teach large group Sunday services for Middle and High school on a rotation
  • Connect students with opportunities to serve others in the church, the community, and
  • abroad
  • Meet regularly with students for one on one mentoring relationships and contact work
  • Create and lead outreach focused hangouts (every semester) that attract new students - and especially students who are not followers of Jesus - with each grade and gender group (including promotion, communication, and coordination)
  • Lead, plan, and oversee annual student ministry camps, trips and events
    • Work with the Student Ministries Pastor on event vision and planning
    • Organize and communicate logistics in a timely and efficient manner
    • Serve as an on-site point person at each event
    • Follow appropriate policies and procedures for event planning, promotion, and evaluation


Raise up teams and leaders who move students toward Christ

  • Recruit, develop, train, and care for volunteer teams and leaders, including
    • Sunday morning small group leaders
    • Mid-week discipleship program leaders
    • Appropriate quantity of volunteers for camps, trips, and special events that ensure students feel safe, noticed, known and heard
    • Organizational prep team who:
    • Orders supplies in preparation for assigned programs
    • Formats and prints weekly curriculum resources for ministry
    • Helps to maintain follow up processes for new students and students with sporadic attendance
    • Additional teams as needed and/or assigned
  • Ensure that all volunteers (including parents) who:
    • Embrace and implement Student Ministry strategies
    • Take ownership of the ministry and perform their responsibilities with excellence
    • Are actively involved with students outside of regular programs
    • Commit to serving weekly and for as many years as possible with a vision for staying with their students through graduation
  • Work with assigned leaders for departmental trainings and schedule coordination


Encourage and equip parents to be spiritual leaders

  • Establish strong relationships with parents
  • Clearly and effectively communicate that parents are the primary spiritual leaders of their students
  • Communicating regularly with parents to
    • Celebrate wins
    • Promote upcoming events
    • Share parenting tips
    • Keep them informed of teachings in Student Ministries
    • Connect students with serving opportunities


Execute Logistical Ministry Tasks

  • Ensure that all tasks assigned to the volunteer prep team are completed on time and with excellence
  • Coordinate attendance tracking with weekly small group leaders
  • Manage student ministry receipts and expenses and submit to accounting in a timely manner
  • Work to ensure Student Ministry operates within the annual budget
  • Meet regularly with entire Student and Family Ministry Team
  • Manage the Student Ministry social media accounts and create engaging posts that
    • Encourage students to engage and respond
    • Keep students and parents informed of ministry events and happenings


QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Essential Experience
    • Proven experience in ministry with students
    • Strong desire to connect with student and leaders
  • Preferred Experience
    • At least 1 year of experience in a larger (500+) church
    • Proven experience in building and leading volunteers team (20+)
    • Proven experience in directing student programs


KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND/OR ABILITY

  • Proficient computer skills, experience with or ability to learn Mac software
  • Ability to learn new software programs quickly
  • Highly developed verbal, written and telephone communication skills with the ability to interact on both a professional and personal level
  • Able to work well both independently (with minimal direction/supervision) and within a team
  • Strong relational and conflict resolutions skills
  • Ability to multi-task and attention to detail is essential
  • This person must have a contagious passion for students
